As early as 1936, the Remscheid metal industry began to systematically sponsor and improve the training of its employees in a joint training workshop. In the "Berufsbildungszentrum der Remscheider Metall- and Elektroindustry GmbH (BZI)" ("Professional Training Centre of the Remscheid Metal and Electronics Industry"), trainees are given the latest basic professional training, and in some cases also specialised professional training. In addition to the actual professional training, increasing emphasis is also placed on further training during work placement. Courses and examinations lead to accepted qualifications. Facilities available include amongst other things courses in the fields of control technology, CNC and CAD technology, IT network management, together with multimedia courses with self-teaching software for areas of metal and electronics technology and a wide range of PC training courses.
