A typical feature of the region is the close proximity of living and working, which has been a characteristic feature of the people and landscape of the region for centuries. This proximity applies not only for work, but also for leisure. The "Bergisch Triangle" is located in a rich and varied landscape made up of mountains, meadows and forests, dams and reservoirs, with bubbling streams and rivers in the valleys, which give the "Bergisches Land" its unique character. Untouched nature can here be discovered just as easily as the traces of early industrialisation. Rambling routes lead visitors to the sights of the region, conveying the real experience of nature and history. Both symbolically and actually, the Müngstener Brücke "Müngsten Bridge" embodies the link with the common future of the region - here in the Wupper valley, where the boundaries of the three towns meet, a new cultural and landscape park will be created as part of "Regionale 2006", enabling visitors to experience the topography, natural beauty and industrial history of the region.
Yet the fact that this is an old industrial region is by no means apparent from the appearance of the towns today - meadows, forests and parks can be reached from any point in only a few minutes, emphasising the good quality of life available in the region.
Life in the region would of course be incomplete without the innumerable leisure and cultural facilities on offer. Here too, the "Bergisch Triangle" has an enormous potential when it comes to sights and cultural highlights. The suspension railway, the unique landscape of the Wuppertal Zoo, the Dance Theatre in Wuppertal made world-famous by Pina Bausch, the Teo Otto Theatre in Remscheid and the "Klingenmuseum" ("Blade Museum") and Baden Museum in Solingen are just a few examples to be mentioned here.
